A group of five clinics in Buckinghamshire, Temple End Vets, has benefited from the introduction of solar panels and a streamlined energy tariff supplied by SGT, which helps businesses across the UK find commercial energy tariffs that meet their needs while keeping costs low.
SGT was introduced to Temple End Vets via a referral to examine the energy expenditure of its Stokenchurch clinic in April. The practice was experiencing more outgoings than it expected, with dozens of meters across its sites on different billing contracts.

In initial discussions, SGT recommended moving all meters onto one tariff and maximising on the Stokenchurch site’s south-facing roof by installing solar panels. In doing so, Temple End Vets would generate income from the power generated, which can be stored with in-house batteries. The business agreed to SGT’s suggestions and began work in May 2024.
In October the Stokenchurch site was upgraded with solar panels. The practice had previously considered installing solar panels but encountered difficulties due to the type of roof on the property. SGT helped find a solar power provider and installer who specialised in the particular roof’s fittings.
Tim from Temple End Vets shared that “SGT’s input has been instrumental in simplifying and streamlining our energy provision. We have nine different suppliers at five separate sites so keeping track of the accounts to get economical tariffs was a big job. We now have the economy of scale by using one company to provide all our energy on a better deal. We then only have to monitor one place when our fixed tariff period comes to an end as opposed to previously juggling many separate suppliers.”
The firm is expecting an annual saving of £17,000, also saving on admin work where a typical invoice would cost £50 to process; the solar panels will also generate electricity, equating to £3,500, which the clinic can store or put back into the grid.
