Zoetis stages equine parasite control masterclass webinar series

ZOETIS LTD is hosting a masterclass series of equine parasitology webinars, a new continuing professional development resource for sustainable equine parasite control which aims to help prescribers implement the guidelines.

They will be presented by Professor Jacqui Matthews, RCVS, recognised specialist in parasitology, and Dr Wendy Talbot, RCVS and European specialist in internal medicine.

The CPD sessions are aimed at SQPs/RAMAs, vets and vet nurses to help all anthelmintic prescribers navigate the new guidelines in a unified way.

Prof Matthews and Dr Talbot, who is the national equine veterinary manager at Zoetis, will demystify seasonal parasite challenges, share best practices, and tackle real-world case scenarios submitted by prescribers.

Dr Talbot said: "Whether you’re seeking practical solutions, up-to-date guidance, or a deeper understanding of how SQPs and vets can work together for optimal horse health, this series is your go-to resource."

Each session will provide actionable advice, an interactive Q&A, and the latest insights to empower confident, sustainable prescribing.

There will be collaborative discussion, expert answers, questions and opportunities to share experiences and learn from peers.

Speakers will discuss real-life cases, and the best practice approach based on the individual scenario to help prescribers make more confident prescribing decisions.

SQPs/RAMAs, vets and vet nurses are invited to send details of any cases they would like to be  discussed during the webinars to wendy.talbot@zoetis.com at least four weeks prior to each webinar. (Please note: for those submitting a case, there’s no obligation to speak during the webinar as the speakers will discuss submission).

The first session, entitled 'Consolidating Winter Management: Tackling Emerging Threats' was held earlier this month.

To sign up for the forthcoming sessions, which start at 7pm and are held under the banner Equine Parasite Control Masterclass: From Guidelines to Practice, visit:

Dr Talbot said: "As the industry embraces sustainable parasite control plans and adapts prescribing decisions, this webinar series offers practical support and expert insight to help you confidently navigate these evolving standards.

"Let’s work together to ensure clarity, consistency, and the best outcomes for horses and clients alike."

The webinar series can be recorded as self-reflective CPD, counting towards RCVS requirements or AMTRA CPD points.

To attain AMTRA CPD points, delegates will need to login to the AMTRA site using their login and going to the 'self-reflective' section.

This must be done within three months of the webinar taking place. AMTRA CPD points will be awarded at the rate of four points per hour of reflective CPD but capped at 30% of overall personal points target (50% for veterinary nurses).

The webinar series is also recognised as Vetpol® accredited CPD, which can be claimed via the Vetpol website.

For further information, including how to access the earlier webinar on winter management, contact your Zoetis Account Manager or call Head Office on 0345 300 8034.
